ABOUT

TsvArt

Tsviklist’s watercolour studies combine an ephemeral style with careful precision, a synthesis between his lifelong passion as an artist and decades of experience in architectural restoration. His work showcases the beauty of ordinary places and significant monuments alike, capturing their authentic contemporary settings with their light, texture, and tone intact. In doing so, he produces vibrant, refreshing scenes which invite us to recontextualize how we view our immediate surroundings and to find beauty that would otherwise go unnoticed.

The Artist

Vladimir Tsviklist is a Russian architect and artist, born in the port town of Yeysk, on the shore of the Sea of Azov in 1958. He completed his architectural studies at the Volgograd Institute of Civil Engineering in 1980, which included his internship in St. Petersburg where he developed a deep appreciation for monumental imperial architecture.

Over his 30-year tenure in the civil services, Tsviklist has participated in a variety of reconstruction and restoration projects, including public buildings and cultural heritage sites. These efforts range from the Volgograd-Glavny railway station to the ancient facades, churches, and cathedrals of the Golden Ring of the Russian Orthodox Church. Additionally, he is a member of the Russian Union of Architects and the St. Petersburg Union of Restorers.

Tsviklist is proficient in a variety of artistic media, including oil on canvas, pastel, simple pencil, and above all watercolor, his favorite medium. He currently resides in Volgograd with his wife Tatiana, alternating between employment, retirement, and painting. Tsviklist also enjoys grilling shashlik, sharing laughs with friends at the dacha, and the occasional fishing trip out of town.

The Proprietors

We are Valeria Tsviklist and Marc Waddingham, the co-proprietors of TsvArt, working to share and promote Vladimir’s work to the wider world. We started TsvArt in 2021, following the gift of a selection of Vladimir’s original works on our first shared visit to Volgograd. It soon became apparent that the unique beauty of Vladimir’s art deserved broader recognition than could be found in the family linen closet, and TsvArt was born!

We are beyond excited and proud to share in the enjoyment of our father’s work with all of you; our sincere thanks for your ongoing enthusiasm and support!
